Tennis: Its History, Rules and Benefits

History of Tennis:

The origins of tennis go back to France in the Middle Ages, where it was played with hands before it evolved to use rackets. The game spread in England during the nineteenth century, and the first Wimbledon Championship was organized in 1877, which contributed to its worldwide fame.

Rules of the game:

A tennis match is played between two players (singles) or four players (doubles). The goal is to hit the ball with the racket to cross the net without the opponent being able to return it legally. The match consists of sets, and winning a set requires winning at least six games by a two-game margin.

Types of courts:

1. Grass courts (such as Wimbledon) - fast and low bounce.

2. Clay courts (such as Roland Garros) - slow and high bounce.

3. Hard courts (such as Australia and the US Open) - balanced in terms of speed and bounce.

4. Indoor courts - often fast and suitable for offensive play.
